World Heritage Day being celebrated on 18th April
Every year, 18th April is celebrated Worldwide as World Heritage Day to create awareness about Heritage among communities.

This year the theme is 'Heritage for Generations'.

The theme emphasizes on the inter-generational transfer of knowledge.

In India, World heritage day will be celebrated at National Rail Museum, New Delhi.


There are total 36 world heritage sites in India, as designated by UNESCO.



Bengaluru is the highest paying city for Talent: Report

The garden city of Bengaluru is found to be the highest paying city in the country, with an average annual cost to company (CTC) for talent across all levels and functions standing at about Rs 11 lakh, according to Randstad Insights, the research and analysis division of Randstad India.

Pune stands second at around Rs 10 lakh, followed by Delhi NCR and Mumbai with an average annual CTC figure of a little under Rs 10 lakh and around Rs 9 lakh, respectively.

Kochi to Host India Skills Kerala 2018

Kerala will host the India Skills Kerala 2018 – in Kochi from April 28 to 30, as part of the World Skills India 2018. The event is aimed at identifying and training talents to get medals at the World Skills Competition Kazan 2019.

The proposed India Skills Kerala 2018 is an avenue provided to the youngsters in the State to showcase their vocational skills. It also aims at generating interest and creating awareness among the general public.

Veteran Journalist S Nihal Singh Passes Away

Veteran journalist S Nihal Singh passed at the age of 88 following an illness.

He was suffering from kidney-related ailments. 

Nihal Singh had worked with several leading newspapers including The Indian Express, The Statesman and Khaleej Times.

DARPAN-PLI app launched by communications ministry

Minister of Communications Manoj Sinha launched here the DARPAN (Advancement of Rural Post Office for a New India)-PLI App, which will help in collection of premium for Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) policies at Branch Post Offices anywhere in India, with online up gradation of the policies.

Further, with the launch of this App, indexing of maturity claims in respect of PLI and RPLI policies can be done at Branch Post Office itself, upon which the insurant will immediately be provided with the request number for further references.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani launches digital platform for police force

In order to improve the conviction rate, Gujarat police introduced the digital platform called Pocket Cop Project, under which 4900 smartphones will be contested with real-time information of 68 lakh criminals.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani launched the innovative application as a part of police modernization.

UK Joins International Solar Alliance

The United Kingdom joined the India-led International Solar Alliance (ISA) ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s four-day visit to Britain.

At an event held at the London Stock Exchange as part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2018 (CHOGM), Britain formally announced its membership of the alliance.

Yes Bank Launches GST Backed Over Draft Facility for MSMEs

Yes Bank has announced the launch of ‘Yes GST’, an OD (over draft) facility for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Through this, an MSME can avail OD up to Rs 1 crore, based on their annual turnover, backed by GST returns.

Any additional assessment of balance sheet or bank statements will not be required. This OD facility can be availed by an MSME against mortgage of residential or commercial property. The sanctioned amount can be utilised by the MSME either fully or in tranches.

Gaint Asteroid 2018 Ge3 makes surprise fly-by past earth
A giant asteroid gave Earth a surprise close shave this week, flying by at a distance of 1,92,000 kilometres, just a day after astronomers discovered the object, scientists say.

NASA estimated that the asteroid measures 48 to 110 meters wide — 3.6 times the size of the one that levelled 2,000 square kilometres of Siberian forest when it exploded over Tunguska in 1908.

The asteroid 2018 GE3 was first spotted on April 14 by astronomers at the Catalina Sky Survey, a NASA programme based at the University of Arizona in the U.S.

Researchers Discover plastic-eating enzyme Accidently
Scientists have accidentally developed a plastic-eating enzyme that may be used to combat one of the world's worst pollution problems

They said the enzyme, Ideonella sakaiensis 201-F6, is able to "eat" polyethylene terephthalate, PET, which was patented as a plastic in the 1940s and is used in millions of tonnes of plastic bottles.
Their aim was to study its structure, but they accidentally engineered an enzyme which was even better at breaking down PET plastics.
