World Malaria Day celebrated on March 25, 2017
World Malaria Day (WMD) 2017 was observed globally on 25 April 2017 with the theme of “Malaria prevention: let’s close the gap”.
World Health Organization announced that the first malaria vaccine will be tested in Kenya, Ghana and Malawi in the year 2018.
PM Modi launches Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan 
Prime Minister NarendraModi today launched a scheme that seeks to strengthen the country's Panchayati Raj system and address critical gaps that hinder its success. 

He launched the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan at Ramnagar in this tribal-dominated district of Madhya Pradesh on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day. 

The Central government scheme aims at making rural local bodies self-sustainable, financially stable and more efficient. 


Four more states, one union territory to implement e-way bill from April 25 
Four new states and one union territory will switch over to the e-way bill system for intra-state movement of goods from April 25. 

Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Puducherry are among the states that will implement e-way bill from April 25. 

As per the decision of the GST Council, the e-Way Bill system for intra-state movement of goods was rolled out on April 1. As on April 20, at least twelve states have adopted the new system across the country. Among these are Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Tripura, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. 

According to the government, e-Way Bills are getting generated successfully with the total number of generated bills standing at 1.84 crore until April 22. Out of this, more than 22 lakh bills were generated for intra-state movement of goods. 

Haryana signs pact with IOC for setting up biomethenation plant

The Haryana government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for setting up a biomethenation plant in Faridabad

The plant will produce cooking gas and compost from organic waste.
The MoU was signed by officials of Municipal Corporation, Faridabad, Indian Oil Corporation, Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), Ecogreen Energy and Iskcon in the presence of Industries and Commerce Minister Vipul Goel in Faridabad today, an official release said here.

The plant will produce 18 cylinders of gas every day which will be supplied to Iskcon, which is also engaged in cooking mid-day meal for 60,000 school children in Faridabad, free of cost.

The plant will also produce about four tonnes of compost per day from five tonnes of organic waste. This compost will be supplied to HSVP for parks.
The minister said it is a unique initiative of the state government and IOC towards making Faridabad a clean and smart city.

Cyber Security Operations Center (APCSOC) in Andhra Pardesh
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday inaugurated the Andhra Pradesh Cyber Security Operations Center (APCSOC) in Amaravati.

APCSOC is an initiative of the state Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (IT and E&C) ministry.

The draft framework - a document that integrates the industry standards and best practices has been released with an objective of inviting consultative feedback from the industry and expert groups.


Iran Bans Banks From Using Cryptocurrencies

Iran banned the use of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies by its banks and financial institutions.

As per the central bank of Iran, the ban was necessary since all cryptocurrencies have the capacity to be turned into a means for money-laundering and financing terrorism and in general can be turned into a means for transferring criminals' money
.

The World's 50 Greatest Leaders 2018: Mukesh Ambani Ranks 24th

Richest Indian Mukesh Ambani (24th Rank) and human rights lawyer Indira Jaising (20th Rank) has been named by Fortune magazine as the World's Greatest Leaders of 2018.

The Fortune's 2018 ranking of the 50 Greatest Leaders has architect Balkrishna Doshi.

This year's list is topped by 'The Students' of Marjory Stoneman Douglas and other schools of US that witnessed gun violence.

This year's list has the #MeToo Movement, which described the pervasiveness of sexual abuse, at No.3 behind Bill and Melinda Gates (2nd Rank). The list also includes Apple CEO Tim Cook, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and football coach Nick Saban.
