Finance Minister Arun Jaitley chairs the 27th GST Council meeting intending to simplify returns filing process

Commencing the 27th Goods and Service Tax Council meeting, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley chaired the meeting via a video conference in New Delhi.

The meeting entails in bringing the GSTN within complete government ownership and further discussion on issues like whether or not to levy Cess Tax on sugar.

Expressing satisfaction in the revenue growth, having a backdrop of the GST returns from the month of April, the meeting has garnered insights of making improvements and simplifying returns filing process.

Stating the agendas the council members discussed Finance Minister Arun Jaitley described that the collection of GST completely on government.

The process of simplification model will be set up in 6 months.

Chhattisgarh recruiting transgender in police force



Chhattisgarh is the first state in country to have decided to recruit TGs in police force, the applicants have been sweating out to clear the training and fitness sessions.


Police officials said that 40 TGs had applied for the recruitment in police force and the process to absorb them would be similar to the parameters of male or female.


Google and Andhra govt to set up 25000 Wi-Fi hotspots

Google India has partnered with Andhra Pradesh State FiberNet Limited (APSFL) to set up Wi-Fi stations in all the Gram Panchayats of the state.

Google had earlier, collaborating with RailTel from Indian Railways, had launched Google Wi-Fi project for train stations in January 2016. It then achieved the target of setting up a public Wi-Fi network in 100 stations by the end of 2016. Google and Indian Railways are now working to expand the project and set up Wi-Fi in as many as 400 stations by the end of 2018.

First organised census for Indus dolphins to be carried out in India

For the conservation of Indus dolphins - one of the world’s rarest mammals - the Punjab government along with WWF-India are conducting the first organised census on their population, officials said on Thursday.
Found only in India and Pakistan, the Indus dolphins are confined to only a 185 km stretch between Talwara and Harike Barrage in India’s Beas river in Punjab.
WWF-India, the most flourishing population of the Indus dolphin, platanista gangetica minor, is found across Pakistan where their numbers are estimated to be around 1,800 over a stretch of 1,500 km of the Indus river.

No Nobel Prize In Literature This Year

The Swedish Academy decided to postpone the 2018 Nobel Prize in Literature, with the intention of awarding it in 2019.

The decision has been taken in the wake of a sexual and financial scandal that has engulfed the Swedish Academy, the cultural institution responsible for awarding the prestigious prize.

According to the Swedish Foundations Act, the Nobel Foundation is ultimately responsible for fulfilling the intentions in the will of Alfred Nobel.

For the first time since 1949, the secretive jury will not unveil a winner this autumn

California Become World's 5th Largest Economy
US state California's economy surpassed that of the UK to become the world’s fifth largest, according to new federal data released.

With a GDP of $2.7 trillion, California is now only behind the US, China, Japan, and Germany.

The UK and India are next on the list, followed by France, Brazil, and Italy respectively.

Despite having a population of only 40 million compared with the UK’s 65 million people, California’s gross domestic product of $2.7tn has overtaken the UK’s $2.6tn.
