India launches biggest city gas distribution auction
In a major step towards ushering in a clean gas-based economy, India on Tuesday launched its biggest auction of city gas distribution (CGD) networks, offering permits for selling compressed and piped natural gas (CNG and PNG) in 86 geographical areas.
Awards from the 9th CGD licensing round would help bring gas coverage to 174 districts in 22 states and Union Territories, covering 29 per cent of the country's area and 24 per cent of the population, said Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launching the bidding round here.
According to the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), which organised a roadshow here to promote the auction, the ninth bid round is expected to attract investment of Rs 70,000 crore.
"This is the biggest step so far in CGD expansion, towards raising the gas share in the country's energy mix from 6.2 per cent to 15 per cent in a few years," 

Madhya Pradesh launches Indias first Integrated Control and Command Centre for its smart cities

Bhopal Smart city Development Corporation Limited (BSCDCL) launched India's first cloud-based common Integrated Data Centre, Disaster Recovery Center and integrated control and command center.

It is powered by Hewlett Packard (HP) Enterprise's universal Internet of Things.

ICCC will enable Madhya Pradesh State Administration to monitor and administer multiple cities civic utilities and citizen services across seven smart cities include Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Indore, Ujjain, Satna, and Sagar.

It will also enable statewide monitoring of these cities from central command view and result in significant cost savings as compared to deploying full-fledged data and discovery data along with the control centers in each center in every seven cities.

PM Modi among  Most Powerful People In The World 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi ranked ninth on Forbes' 2018 list of 'the world's most powerful people'. 

Chinese President Xi Jinping ranked first, followed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump at the second and third rank, respectively.

The only other Indian to feature on the list is Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani at 32. The PM Modi ranks ahead of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg (who is at 13th spot).


TRAI Releases Draft Of Telecom Interconnection Regulations

Telecom regulator Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) issued a draft to amend interconnect regulations, proposing certain changes in terms and conditions for operators to seek fresh call connect ports from other telcos.

The 'draft Telecommunication Interconnection (Amendment) Regulations 2018' proposed that a service provider can ask another operator for additional ports, in case the projected utilization of the capacity is likely to exceed 85% over 60 day period.

Google Officially Launches Things, Its IoT Platform

In an effort to better secure and control Internet of Things (IoT) devices, Google officially launched Android Things.

Google's version of Android for IoT devices aims to solve a problem that affects most of the current IoT devices on the market, developers routinely fail to update their devices.

With Android Things, each connected device that uses the platform will receive three years of OS updates directly from Google and all of these updates will be free.

Beijing To Hold World Robot Conference

The 2018 World Robot Conference (WRC) will be held in Beijing, China in August 2018.

The event will see over 12,000 competing teams and 50,000 participants from more than 10 countries and regions.

A robot competition will be held during the conference where participants will compete in five categories.

Walmart Buys Flipkart In World's Largest E-Commerce Deal

US-based retail giant Walmart confirmed that it will buy 77% stake in India's largest e-commerce startup Flipkart for $16 billion.

The acquisition, which is the largest e-commerce deal in the world, will value the homegrown startup at a reported amount of $20.8 billion.

Notably, SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son had announced the deal by mistake earlier in the day.

Nisha Bhalla Conferred With 'WEF 2018' Award

Nisha Bhalla, a 46-year-old holistic coach and consultant from Mumbai was felicitated at the recently concluded Annual Women Economic Forum (WEF) 2018 Awards.

WEF is the largest global gathering of women entrepreneurs and leaders worldwide.

This annual event recognizes the most successful women across all fields, with guests like Nobel laureate Ouided Bouchamaoui.

The event was held in Delhi.

Nisha was presented the 'Excellent Woman of Excellence' award for her spiritual service at the event.
