Maharashtra Government announces financial aid for tur farmers
Maharashtra government will provide a financial grant of 1,000 rupees per quintal to those farmers whose tur and gram could not be purchased by the administration before the May 31 deadline.

The state government had set up tur procurement target of 44.6 lakh quintals.

The government had started purchasing tur from farmers by offering them guaranteed rates following bumper tur production.

Speaking to reporters after a weekly cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the government will also give a financial aid of 160 crore rupees to farmers whose crops got damaged due to unseasonal rain or hailstorm.

The chief minister also announced a special subsidy for milk producers.

Ministry of Women and Child Development holds National Consultation on Child Protection

The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD) on June 5, 2018 organised the National Consultation on Child Protection in New Delhi. The conference purposefully discussed the Juvenile Justice (Care and protection of Children) Act (JJ Act), 2015 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), 2012.

The first part of National Consultation focused on deliberations with regard to JJ Act, 2015; POCSO Act, 2012; Trackchild and Childline (1098) with an aim to introspect on various issues and concerns which have manifested lately.

Centre proposes to ban obscene depiction of women on internet
The Ministry of Women and Child Development on June 4, 2018 proposed amendments to the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act (IRWA), 1986 with an aim to ban obscene and indecent depiction of women on internet.
The amendments were proposed after the government received the inputs from the parliamentary standing committee formed in 2012 to study a bill to bring the law up to date and also from the National Commission for Women.
Center forms 3 key panels for 'Prime Ministers of India' Museum Project

The Union Culture Ministry on June 5, 2018 formed three high-powered panels that will work to set up a unique museum on the 'Prime Ministers of India' in the national capital Delhi.

The Culture Ministry has long been planning to set up a modern museum that will tell the story of all the prime ministers of the country at the premises of the iconic Teen Murti Estate in the Chanakyapuri area, the official residence of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. 

The iconic landmark Teen Murti Estate belongs to the government.

India hosted 11th edition of Geo Intelligence Asia
The eleventh edition of Geo-Intelligence Asia 2018 was held at Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi on June 4-5, 2018.
The seminar brought together military, security officials including BSF and police forces, government and industry together to assess the latest technology solutions and discuss and deliberate on the critical role of geospatial technology for safety and security.
The seminar included an exhibition comprising stalls of various technological firms dealing with geospatial technologies.

49th Conference Of Governors Concludes In New Delhi

The two-day 49th Conference of Governors concluded in New Delhi.

The President exhorted Governors to take the lead in adopting modern technology and methods. 

The Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Minister for Home Affairs also addressed the concluding session of the Conference.

Andhra Pradesh inks pact with Maharashtra to develop Fintech ecosystem

Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh took to Twitter and shared the details about the same.

The Minister termed Mumbai and Vizag as the driving force behind the Fintech platform.

Lokesh hoped that new association will pave the way for enhanced financial technology innovation in both the states.

Polythene To Be Completely Prohibited From 31st July In Uttarakhand

In Uttarakhand, Polythene will be completely prohibited from 31st July in the state.

All the polythene vendors have been asked to finish the polyethylene stock before 31st July. 

In Dehradun on the occasion of World Environment Day, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat stated, a comprehensive public awareness campaign will be launched on environmental damage caused by polythene, one week before the entire ban on polythene in the state. 

Madhya Pradesh Announces Outstanding Power Bill Waiver Scheme

The Madhya Pradeshgovernment announced an outstanding power bill waiver scheme for laborers and poor families.

The state cabinet headed by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan approved the Bijli Bill Mafi Yojana 2018 (Power Bill Waiver Scheme) which is expected to benefit about 77 lakh people of the state.

Laborers falling under the unorganized sector in Madhya Pradesh will get power supply at a subsidized rate.

Repo Rate Increased By 25 Bps In Second Bi-Monthly Monetary Policy Statement (2018-19)

Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of Reserve Bank of India increased the policy Repo Rate under the liquidity adjustment facility (LAF) by 25 basis points to 6.25 percent in the Second Bi-monthly Monetary Policy Statement (2018-19). Consequently, the reverse repo rate under the LAF stands adjusted to 6.0 percent, and the marginal standing facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate to 6.50 percent.

MPC revised CPI inflation for 2018-19 to 4.8-4.9% in the first half and 4.7% in the second half.

The MPC stated that the GDP growth rate for 2018-19 is retained at 7.4 percent.

Virat Kohli Only Indian In Worlds Highest Paid Athletes List

India cricket captain Virat Kohliis among the world’s highest-paid athletes, according to a Forbes’ compilation topped by American boxing champion Floyd Mayweather. Kohli, the only sportsperson from India to be featured in the list, is ranked 83rd with earnings of USD 24 million.

Kohli is not just cricket-crazy India’s biggest name but is also one of the most popular athletes in the world.

The ‘World’s Highest-Paid Athletes 2018’ list is topped by 41-year-old Mayweather, with USD 285 million earnings.
