Haryana Government is going to host 2018 World Union of Wholesale Markets

Haryana will host 33rd World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) Conference in Gurugram from October 10-13th 2018.


Heads of 200 mandis from across the world will participate in this Conference.

Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board will organise this conference.

Countries from Asia, North and South America, Africa and Europe will also participate in the conference.

Information related to reforms all over the world will be shared so that India could move towards a single unified world market.

Sathyasri Sharmila from Tamil Nadu becomes First Transgender Lawyer of India

6 year-old Sathyasri Sharmilafrom Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu has become the first transgender lawyer to enroll herself with the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry (BCTNP).


On a related note, Rajasthan's Ganga Kumari was appointed as the first transgender woman constable after Justice Dinesh Mehta issued the order.

Meanwhile, West Bengal's Joyita Mondal was appointed the Lok Adalat judge of Islampur in North Dinajpur district, thus giving India its first transgender judge.

Nissan signs MoU with Kerala government for digital hub

Nissan Motor signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Kerala to establish a new global center for its digital operations in India. The Nissan Digital Hub in Kerala will serve as an important engine to drive Nissan’s global digital transformation.

The hub also seeks in transforming Nissan’s global business by placing digital technology at its operations and service.

For this project, the Kerala government has provided 70 acres of land to Nissan to set up the digital hub at the Technocity campus, Pallipuram.

Monti Rajkhowa, the First Assamese Woman To Scale Mount Kanchenjunga

Monti, who is professionally an executive engineer of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) based in Mumbai, is the first lady ONGC officer among her male counterparts to have managed to scale the world's toughest peak.

She was born and brought up in Meghalaya.


The ONGC Kanchenjunga expedition was flagged off by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in April 2018.

Mount Kanchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world.

DISHA Week is being celebrated from 25th to 29th June

District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DDCMC) is named as “DISHA” by the Ministry of Rural Development.

To mark the successful completion of 2 years of the DISHA, the Union Minister of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Mines, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, held wide ranging discussions on the DISHA initiative with Special Secretaries of the states/ UTs at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

Chhattisgarh is among the five States which received an "award of appreciation" for exemplary work towards regular holding of DISHA meetings. The other States include Jharkhand, Kerala, Mizoram and Uttarakhand.


Chennai airport could soon lose 4th busiest tag to Hyderabad

Chennai airport which is currently the fourth busiest in the country might soon lose its position to Hyderabad.

So far, Delhi stands first busiest in the country followed by Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad in terms of passenger movement.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) shows that Hyderabad recorded 13.8 lakhs passengers, whereas Chennai recorded 13.5 lakhs users in April 2018.

Between April 2017 and April 2018, Hyderabad airport has seen an increase of 25% in the total number of passengers traveled while Chennai has seen 13.7% growth. The rate at which Hyderabad is progressing, it will soon overtake both Chennai and Kolkata.


Govt notifies Electoral Bond Scheme 2018 via Gazette Notification

As per provisions of the Scheme, Electoral Bonds may be purchased by a person, who is a citizen of India or incorporated or established in India.

A person being an individual can buy Electoral Bonds, either singly or jointly with other individuals.

Only the Political Parties registered under Section 29A of Representation of People Act, 1951 & which secured not less than 1% of the votes polled in last General Election or the Legislative Assembly of the State, shall be eligible to receive Electoral Bonds.

Electoral Bonds shall be encashed by an eligible Political Party only through a Bank account with the Authorized Bank.

Electoral Bonds shall be valid for fifteen calendar days from the date of issue and no payment shall be made to any payee Political Party if the Electoral Bond is deposited after expiry of the validity period.

The Electoral Bond deposited by an eligible Political Party in its account shall be credited on the same day.

Antonio Vitorino from Portugal elected as new Director General of UN migration agency

Antonio Manuel de Carvalho Ferreira Vitorino of Portugal was elected by the member States of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to serve as the agency’s Director General, beginning on 1 October 2018.

He succeeds William Lacy Swing of the United States, who will have served two five-year terms as IOM chief.

Established in 1951, IOM had been an observer to the UN since 1992. 

Champions Trophy Hockey: Australia Beat India in Shootouts to Win 15th Title

World Champions Australia defeated India 3-1 via shoot-off after both teams were locked at 1-1 in regulation time to clinch their second consecutive Champions Trophy hockey title.

India's quest for their maiden Champions Trophy hockey title remained unaccomplished as they lost 1-3 to defending champions Australia via penalty shootouts in the summit clash of the 37th and final edition of the prestigious tournament.

India came agonisingly close to securing their maiden Champions Trophy triumph, only to be denied by a valiant show by Australia goalkeeper Tyler Lovell.

India Win the Kabaddi Masters Dubai 2018 title

The Indian kabaddi team beat Iran 44-26 and lifted the "Kabaddi Masters 2018" title in Dubai.
