Delhi's Connaught Place ranked world's 9th most costliest office location

According to American property consultant CBRE, New Delhi's Connaught Place is the 9th most expensive location globally to set up or rent an office, with an annual rent of ₹10,512 per square feet.

Hong Kong (Central) is at the first position with an annual rent of $306.57 per square feet, followed by London (West End), Beijing (Finance Street) in China, Hong Kong (Kowloon) and Beijing (CBD) in China.

Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) slipped to 26th position with an annual prime rent of USD 96.51 per sq ft from 16th rank.

PM Modi became third most followed world leader on Twitter

BCW’s (Burson Cohn & Wolfe) Twiplomacy study 2018 identified PM Narendra Modi as the third most followed world leader on Twitter with 42 million followers on his personal account @NarendraModi, while Sushma Swaraj is the most followed female world leader, with 11 m followers.

US President Donald Trump is the most followed world leader on Twitter, with 52 million followers on his @realDonaldTrump account.

Facebook is the second most popular platform among government leaders followed by Instagram.


Dipa Karmakar likely to be named Tripura's brand ambassador

 Ace Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar, who recently bagged the gold medal in the women's vault event at the Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup in Mersin in Turkey, is likely to become brand ambassador of Tripura.

The 24-year-old Dipa was born in Tripura Capital, Agartala and had finished fourth in Rio Olympics in 2016.

She is the first Indian female gymnast ever to compete in the Olympics.

For her commendable performance in Rio Olympics 2016, the Government of India conferred upon her the Khel Ratna award in August 2016.

HDFC securities enable MF transactions through Facebook messenger

A subsidiary of HDFC Bank, HDFC securities launched Mutual Funds (MF) transactional capabilities on Facebook Messenger through their virtual assistant, Arya.

hdfcsec.Arya also facilitates a quick overview of total portfolio holding, getting the latest stock quotes and opening an account.



Dainik Bhaskar Group Editor Kalpesh Yagnik passed away

Kalpesh Yagnik, the Group Editor of media house Dainik Bhaskar passed away at the age of 55 on 12th July 2018 in Indore. Yagnik suffered a heart attack while he was working in his office. Yagnik had joined the Dainik Bhaskar group in 1998, after working at the Free Press Journal. 

Yagnik was born on June 21, 1963. He joined Dainik Bhaskar in 1998 before which he also worked at Free Press Journal. He was a B. Com graduate.

TCA Raghavan is appointed Director-General of ICWA

Dr. T.C.A. Raghavan is appointed as the Director General (DG), ex officio member-Secretary of the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) by Vice President of India and President of ICWA, M. Venkaiah Naidu.

The post of DG is equivalent to the rank of Secretary to Government of India.

The decision was taken in the meetings of the Governing Body and Governing Council of the ICWA.

Dr. T.C.A. Raghavan has served as India’s High Commissioner to Islamabad and Singapore and has served in India’s missions at London, Thimphu, and Kuwait.

Entire Men's Hockey Team Included In TOP Scheme

In a departure from the norm, the Mission Olympic Cell included the entire Indian hockey team in the Target Olympic Podium (TOP) scheme, rewarding the players for their silver medal-winning performance at the Champions Trophy.

Athletes from different sports have been included in TOP Scheme individually but it is the first instance that an entire team has been made beneficiary of the financial assistance scheme. Each of the 18 members of the hockey team will now get a monthly allowance of Rs 50,000.

France defeated Croatia, won FIFA World Cup after 20 years

France defeated first-time finalists Croatia 4-2 in 2018 FIFA World Cup final, held in Moscow, Russia.

France became the first team since Brazil in 1970 to score four goals in a World Cup final.

Previously, France won FIFA World Cup in 1998.

Djokovic clinched his 4th Wimbledon title, 13th Grand Slam

Ex-world number one Novak Djokovic defeated Kevin Anderson to clinch his fourth men’s singles Wimbledon title and overall 13th Grand Slam.

Djokovic became the fourth player after Roger Federer (8), Pete Sampras (7) and Björn Borg (5) to win Wimbledon men's title four or more times in Open Era.

PV Sindhu finished as runner up at the Thailand Open

World number three Sindhu lost the match 15-21, 18-21 in 50 minutes against the world number eight Nozomi Okuhara of Japan, in the final of the Thailand Open BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament in Bangkok.

Meanwhile, Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan won the men's singles title with a three-game victory against Tommy Sugiarto of  Indonesia 21-16, 13-21, 21-9 in the final.

Ajay Jayaram finishes runner-up at White Nights International Challenge

Indian shuttler Ajay Jayaram finished runners-up at the White Nights International Challenge.

Jayaram, who had achieved a career-best ranking of world no 13 in April last year, aggravated a hamstring injury at the Senior Nationals. An old knee injury also flared up and he was out of action for over six months. It affected his ranking as it nosedived 96.
