Himachal Pradesh banned use of thermocol cutlery

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakurhad announced the ban on the World Environment Day on June 5, but it was observed that it was still in use.

The Himachal Pradesh government recently issued fresh notification banning use of thermocol cutlery including cups, plates, glasses, spoons or any other item in the state.

The state government has set a deadline of three months for manufacturers to dispose of their stocks.

HRD Minister inaugurated 17th World Sanskrit Conference in Canada

Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar inaugurated the 17th World Sanskrit Conference held at Vancouver, Canada, from July 9-13, 2018.
There will be a special panel discussion on topics such as - History and Education of Women in Vedic Literature, Sanskrit Buddhist Manus, Mimamsa Beyond the Yagasala, the Yuktidipika forging a place for Sankhya, introducing Bhagavata Purana Commentaries and research on the Gargiyajyotisa.

The World Sanskrit Conference is being held in various countries across the globe once in every three years and so far it has been held thrice in India.

PM Narendra Modi and South Korean President Moon Jae-in visited Noida and inaugurated the 35-acre New Mobile manufacturing plant of Samsung at Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It will be the world’s largest mobile factory

With the beginning of this New plant, India’s Make in India will get a major push in the country. Samsung has invested close to Rs.5,000 crores in this plant and aims to manufacture 12 crore mobile handsets annually which will result in massive job creation.

RBI cancelled licence of Alwar Urban Co operative Bank

Alwar Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd., Alwar, Rajasthan is prohibited from conducting the business of ‘banking’ which includes acceptance of deposits and repayment of deposits.

On liquidation, every depositor is entitled to repayment of his/her deposits up to a monetary ceiling of Rs 1,00,000 from the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC).

♦ About DICGC:-

♦ Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC) is a subsidiary of Reserve Bank of India.

♦ It was established on 15 July 1978 under Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation Act, 1961.

♦ Purpose:- providing insurance of deposits and guaranteeing of credit facilities.

♦ DICGC insures all bank deposits, such as saving, fixed, current, Recurring_deposit for up to the limit of Rs. 100,000 of each deposits in a bank.

Anuj Khosla, 52 year old Indian woman, completed ironman triathlon in Austria

The 52-year-old Indian Anju Khosla, from New Delhi, has become the oldest Indian woman to complete an Ironman Triathlon which is one of the toughest one-day sporting events. Triathlon comprises swimming, mountain biking and trail running.

It comprises 3.86 km swimming leg, 180.25 km bike leg followed by a marathon 42.2 km, to be completed without a break. She completed her first full Ironman Triathlon, in Carinthia, Austria, in 15 hours, 54 minutes and 54 seconds.

The English patient by Michael Ondaatje won the Golden Man Booker International prize 2018

Michael Ondaatje’s best selling novel 'The English Patient' has been crowned as the winner of the Golden Man Booker Prize at the Southbank Centre in London. The prize was instituted as part of celebrations to mark the Booker’s having completed 50 years.

The novel move between large themes of war, loyalty, love. It is set, during World War II, about Hana, a nurse, who tends to a horribly burned man who finds himself in an Italian villa with three other unlikely characters. It was picked as the winner by a public poll from a shortlist of five books.

Indias Dalabehera bags bronze in Junior world weightlifting Championship

Indian weightlifter Jhilli Dalabehera has won the bronze medal in the 2018 IWF Junior World Weightlifting Championships at Tashkent. She lifted 167 kg in the 48 kg category to finish third on the podium.

Jhilli Dalabehera is the second woman lifter after Saikhom Mirabai Chanu in 2013 to win a medal in the Junior World Championships.
