Mirabai Chanu wins India’s 1st gold at Commonwealth Games 2018 


: Indian weightlifter and current world champion Mirabai Chanu opened the country gold medal at 2018 Commonwealth Games after lifting the 195kg in the women 48kg category on Thursday. And also 23-year-old Snatch 86kg and Clean and Jerk 110 kg are also in categories.

Salman Khan convicted by Jodhpur court in blackbuck poaching case 


Bollywood actor Salman Khan was convicted by a Jodhpur court on April 5th, 2018 in the blackbuck poaching case in 1998. He has killed two blackbucks near Jodhpur during the shooting of Hum Saath-Saath Hain. Also, Tabu, Saif Ali Khan, Neelam, and Sonali Bendre were also in the same vehicle with Salman. He allegedly used for hunting.

India becomes second largest manufacturer of crude steel

According to Steel Users Federation of India (SUFI), India overtook Japan to become world’s second largest producer of crude steel.

China is the largest producer of crude steel in the world, accounting for more than 50% of the production.

India’s crude steel production stood at 93.11 million tonnes (MT) for period April 2017 to February 2018 and was up 4.4% as compared with April 2016.


Russia Started Building Turkey's First Nuclear Power Plant
The Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (TAEK) was awarded a construction license for Akkuyu NPP, Turkey's first nuclear power plant, which is being built in Mersin province, in southern Turkey. JSC Akkuyu Nuclear is the Russian-owned company which is responsible for the project.

The USD20 billion project to build the four-unit, 4800 MWe plant is part of Erdogan's '2023 Vision' marking 100 years since the founding of modern Turkey and is intended to reduce the country's dependence on energy imports. The plant is expected to meet about 10% of Turkey's electricity needs.

Himanta Biswa Sarma Elected BAI President


Assam Health and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was unanimously elected the Badminton Association of India (BAI) President during its annual general body meeting in Goa.
Ajay Kumar Singhania was elected the Secretary General of BAI. Mr Sarma had taken over as the interim BAI President in 2017 after the demise of Akhilesh Das Gupta. He will serve for four years.

Bhattacharjee appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Serbia.
He is an IFS officer of 1989 batch. He is currently Joint Secretary in Ministry of External Affairs

Khumukcham Sanjita Chanu wins India’s 2nd gold at Commonwealth Games 2018 

:Weightlifter Khumukcham Sanjita Chanu delivered India its second gold medal of the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast City, Australia by dominating the women’s 53kg event.

The defending champion, Loa Dika Toua of Papua New Guinea, claimed silver with a total lift of 182 (80 in the snatch and 102 in clean & jerk) and bronze went to Canada’s Rachel Leblanc-Bazinet who finished with a combined effort of 181kg (81 in the snatch and 100 in clean & jerk).
