Deepak Lather wins Bronze medal in Men’s 69 kg weightlifting at Commonwealth Games 2018     

Deepak Lather, in his debut Commonwealth Games, displayed that he holds the future for India in weightlifting, as he went on to clinch the bronze medal in Men’s 69 kg weightlifting event. The 18-year-old from Haryana went on to lift a total weight of 295 kg – 136 kg in Snatch and 159 kg in Clean-and-Jerk, to reach the podium. He attempted to go for a 138 kg lift in Snatch and a 162 kg Clean-and-Jerk, but he failed in the attempt to do so. If he had achieved both the lifts, he would have been able to contest for the gold medal. With the bronze medal win, India takes its total medal tally in this year’s CWG to 4, all of them coming in weightlifting.

Uttarakhand second Mega Food Park inaugurated at Udham Singh Nagar

Uttarakhand’s second Mega Food Park- Himalayan Mega Food Park Private Ltdinaugurated at Mahuakhera Ganj in Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district.
It was inaugurated by Union Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

The first Mega Food Park in the state is located at Haridwar.

The mega food park was set up in the area of 50.14 acres at a cost of Rs 99.96 crore. It has central processing center (CPC).

Global Logistics Summit Held In New Delhi

The Global Logistics Summit was held in New Delhi.

It was organized by the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, along with FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry) and the World Bank Group.

The Summit acts as a platform to hold discussions with global experts, academics, government officials and private sector and industry representatives.

According to the Union Minister for Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, 56 new airports will be ready for operation in the next few years.

Coal Ministry Launches UTTAM App For Quality Monitoring

The Union Minister for Railways and Coal Shri Piyush Goyal launched UTTAM App for Coal Quality Monitoring.

UTTAM stands for – Unlocking Transparency by Third Party Assessment of Mined Coal.

The Ministry of Coal and Coal India Limited (CIL) developed UTTAM. It aims to provide an App for all citizens and coal consumers to monitor the process of Third Party Sampling of coal across CIL subsidiaries.

The salient features of UTTAM APP are Sampling Coverage, Subsidiary wise quality parameters, Complaints pertaining to quality of Coal and Imports of coal.

Alliance Air starts low-cost Delhi-Pathankot flight under UDAN

Pathankot is the 21st airport under the Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) scheme, according to an official statement. The 1-hour-35-minute-long flight will operate three days a week -- Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Sathish Kumar Sivalingam wins gold medal in 77 kg weightlifting at Commonwealth Games 2018     


Today On 7th April Saturday Morning Sathish Kumar Sivalingam lifted 317 kg in total, 144 kg in Snatch and 173 kg in Clean-and-Jerk to clinch the gold medal for India in Men's 77 kg weightlifting.

Sathish Kumar Sivalingam won the third gold medal for India in weightlifting as he lifted 317 kg in total, 144 kg in Snatch and 173 kg in Clean-and-Jerk in Men’s 77 kg weightlifting at Commonwealth Games 2018 in Gold Coast. It is his 2nd consecutive gold medal at Games, as he secured the gold in Glasgow in 2014, as well. It is India’s 5th medal so far in Commonwealth Games 2018, and all of them have come in weightlifting so far. He faced a stiff competition from England’s Jack Oliver who remained on the second position, after a difficult clean-and-jerk round.
